James Bond 007- Vive Y Deja Morir -1973- Dual 1... Site
Live and Let Die is the eighth film in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions and the third collaboration with director Guy Hamilton. Following Sean Connery's departure (and George Lazenby's sole outing), the producers, Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, needed a new face to reinvigorate the franchise. After Connery declined to return, the role was offered to Roger Moore. Interestingly, Clint Eastwood was also offered the part but declined, feeling Bond should be played by an English actor.
By 1973, the James Bond franchise needed a dramatic shift. Sean Connery’s gritty, hyper-masculine portrayal had defined the 1960s, but the 1970s demanded a different kind of hero. Roger Moore brought a lighter, more tongue-in-cheek approach to 007. His Bond relied heavily on charm, dry wit, and raised eyebrows, stepping slightly away from the raw brutality of his predecessor. This tonal shift allowed the franchise to survive and thrive for another 12 years under Moore's tenure. The Plot: Blaxploitation meets British Espionage

This stylistic choice made the film controversial and, by some modern accounts, problematic for its cultural appropriation. However, it also makes "Live and Let Die" a fascinating time capsule of 1970s filmmaking. It introduced the first romantically involved African American Bond girl, Rosie Carver (played by Gloria Hendry), and featured a memorable comedic turn from Clifton James as the bumbling, bigoted Sheriff J.W. Pepper. It is also the first Bond film where Q (Desmond Llewelyn) is completely absent, and the first to feature swearing, with Mrs. Bell exclaiming "holy s**t" when Bond commandeers her plane.
