The story follows Jess, a single mother who goes on a boating trip with several friends. After their yacht is capsized by a sudden storm, the group is forced to seek refuge on a seemingly deserted ocean liner, the Aeolus. However, Jess is overcome with a creeping sense of déjà vu, realizing she has been on this ship before. The group soon finds themselves stalked by a mysterious, violent assailant. What unfolds is a masterfully constructed narrative that reveals Jess is trapped in an endless, inescapable cycle of violence, where she is forced to confront and kill her past selves in a desperate attempt to break the loop and return to her son.

The film's genius lies in its cyclical nature. Jess, in trying to escape the loop, only ensures it will happen again. She is forced into a repeating cycle of violence and loss, a cinematic representation of purgatory where her attempts to "fix" things only cement her eternal damnation. The film rewards multiple viewings with its intricate foreshadowing and visual clues, turning the audience's experience into a mirror of Jess's own repetitive, doomed investigation.
